Arlington Softball Baseball League

SB T-ball

The T-ball level of softball is the first step to introducing the girls to the game.  Skills that are focused on the this level is hitting off a tee with the coach pitching to players who want it, fielding and throwing to first, running the bases and fun.

What is the game and practice schedule at this level?

Teams begin practices approximately a month before games begin.  Teams have pre-season practice once or twice a week.

When games start, the schedule will change to one practice and one game a week.  Game schedules will be made available approximately 2 weeks after teams have been assigned.   Games are scheduled for 1 hour slots. The regular season in the Spring ends around Memorial Day and in Fall league, it ends around Halloween.

When will I hear from a coach?

When signing your child up, your child will be placed on a team for the season. You should hear from your coach within a week of Team selection days.  Most teams have a maximum of 6 players.  We encourage all parents to help their coach with practice.  As you well know, that players this age need a low ratio of coach to players.

What does a typical game look like?

Tee Ball teams are kept small in order to maximize hitting and fielding opportunities for each player. Players hit a soft, safety ball off of a batting tee and run one base at a time, while fielders learn to field the ball and throw the ball to first base. Every player bats and plays the field in each inning. All players are safe on the bases. As the season progresses, coaches have some freedom to adapt the game to suit their individual players.

What does my player need?

The league provides a team uniform shirt, belt and socks for each player. You will need to provide your own glove, helmet, fielding mask and bat at each game. Cleats are optional at this level.  Note:  Best way to size for a bat is to have the child stand up straight and place the bat to their side parallel to their leg on the side of their body.  The knob of the bat should rest in their wrist area with a 2 inch leeway either direction.

What else is required?

Your participation is a parent.  Even if you don’t step up as a head coach, parents should be present at these games to cheer on their players and help the coaches. We strongly suggest that the parents read the Parent’s Code of Conduct.  Our sole focus of this league is to positively develop your daughter to love the game of softball and perform to her best of her ability.  Your involvement and attitude is crucial in partnership with us.

Mandatory Volunteer Application must be filled out before an adult can be on field working with players.
